February 15th-20th, 2016
The 13th Feb. 2016 saw the arrival of 27 Korean students from Woosong University for a week-long programme of English and cultural experience in Malaysia. UMCCed hosted these students with in-class lectures and a home-stay in a village in the rural heart of the state of Selangor.
On arrival at KLIA on 13 Feb. they were whisked off to the Lodge for their accommodation. Conversational English was the order of the day with group discussions and role-plays, which the students performed excellently, despite having little time for preparation.
Their homestay programme at Homestay Kampung Sungai Sireh, Tanjung Karang Kuala Selangor began on 16 February and ending on 18 February 2016. Jungle-trekking, kayaking, mountain climbing, visit to fireflies, painting ‘batik’ and planting rice were the highlights of their stay. The students were treated to authentic Malaysian hospitality by staying with Malay families and indulging in Malaysian cuisine.
A closing ceremony was arranged on Friday 19th February with the students performing superbly with song and dance before an enthralled crowd of the Director of UMCCed and English lecturers. Saturday morning found them in Little India (Brickfields and Majid Jamek) where they treated themselves to spicy Indian food and Indian apparel and accessories . Sunday was free and easy where they entertained themselves at Bukit Bintang.
It was 'sayonara' on Monday when they boarded their flight to Inchon, South Korea with fond memories of their delightful stay in Malaysia.
