Malay Language Proficiency Programme (Intermediate)


The Malay Language Proficiency Programme is designed to train participants to become proficient in the Malay Language conversation, reading and basic writing. It is also for Malaysian locals, Expatriates and foreign students studying in Malaysia who wish to enhance their Malay proficiency.

Course Objectives

  • use Malay Language in professional, academic and social contexts
  • gain mastery in social discourse fields
  • engage in discussions on related issues
  • read excerpts from books and journals and understand Malay prose
  • write memos, respond to emails and write simple description

Course Content

Participants will be exposed to Malaysian culture, cuisine, geography, history, worship places, places of interest, transports, people, weather and other relevant reading materials.

Tuesday & Thursday

Training Methodology

Discussions, role play, practice sessions, lectures, presentation, simulations, etc.

Assessment Methods

  • Continuous Assessment: 60% (Exercise, Homework and Tests)
  • Final Examination: 40% (Listening + Speaking + Reading + Writing)

Awarding of Certificate

The certificate will be awarded by University of Malaya Centre for Continuing Education upon successful completion of the course

Course Fee

  • RM 2120.00 (including GST)

Fees can be paid in full or by instalment

Application must be made through the prescribed form, which may be obtained from UMCCed office or can be downloaded here.

A complete application should consist of the following items:

A complete, signed application form with 2 passport size photograph
Copy of Identification Card / Passport
