This programme is offered specifically for working adults who are interested in acquiring specialised skills and knowledge in counseling for the purpose of career development. The course is designed to provide participants with current theoretical, research and practical knowledge as basics for developing skills and to improve counseling effectiveness.


By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Show basic skills in counseling to act as an Assistant Counsellor in non-governmental organisations and public/private sectors
  • Show responsibility and social skills as an Assistant Officer in counselling services for the needs of the community
  • Correlate professional ethics and moral responsibilities as an Assistant Counsellor
  • Use effective communication skills, work in a team, and possess basic leadership skills
  • Utilise scientific skills to understand issues and problems of people
  • Use the knowledge and skills learnt as a foundation to enhance knowledge and skills towards lifelong learning
  • Organise self as an Assistant Counsellor who is able to act as a manager or facilitator of counselling and guidance programmes

Programme Structure

Students must complete a total of 90 credit in order to qualify for the award of Executive Diploma. They must pass all courses prescribed as Compulsory Courses and Core Courses
