Pass STPM with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

Obtained of at least Grade B in STPM for Bahasa Arab, and Grade C in any one (1) of the other subject

Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects in SPM level:

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

REQUIREMENT 1

Pass Islamic Studies Foundation (Universiti Malaya) with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and

Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects in SPM level:

• Bahasa Arab;
• Al- Lughah Al- Arabiah AL- Mu’asirah
• Turath Bahasa Arab

and

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

 
OR

REQUIREMENT 2

Pass Matriculation/ Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and

Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects in SPM level:

• Bahasa Arab;
• Al- Lughah Al- Arabiah AL- Mu’asirah
• Turath Bahasa Arab

and

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

Obtained a minimum of Jayyid Jiddan in Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM);

and

Obtained of at least Jayyid Jiddan for the following STAM subjects:

• Nahu and Sarf
• Mutalaah and Insya
• Balaghah;

and

Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects in SPM level:

• Bahasa Arab;
• Al- Lughah Al- Arabiah AL- Mu’asirah
• Turath Bahasa Arab

and

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

REQUIREMENT 1

Possessed a Diploma in Bahasa Arab / Islamic Studies that is recognized by Malaysian Government and approved by the University Senate with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and

Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects in SPM level:

• Bahasa Arab;
• Al- Lughah Al- Arabiah AL- Mu’asirah
• Turath Bahasa Arab

and

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

REQUIREMENT 2

Possessed a Diploma in Elementary Teaching from the Ministry of Education Malaysia with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

or

Pass Certificate in Elementary Teaching from Ministry of Education Malaysia;

and

Have experience in the teaching of Arabic Language or serve in employment involving matters of Arabic Language (e.g. language teaching, translation, language planning, terminology management, editing, etc.) not less than three (3) years of experience;

and

Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects in SPM level:

• Bahasa Arab;
• Al- Lughah Al- Arabiah AL- Mu’asirah
• Turath Bahasa Arab

and

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

 
OR

REQUIREMENT 3

Pass STPM not within the current year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and

Obtained of at least Grade B in STPM for Bahasa Arab and Grade C in any one (1) other subject;

and

Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects in SPM level:

• Bahasa Arab;
• Al- Lughah Al- Arabiah AL- Mu’asirah
• Turath Bahasa Arab

and

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

REQUIREMENT 4

Pass STAM not within the current year with a minimum of Jayyid Jidan;

and

Obtained of at least Jayyid Jiddan for the following STAM subject:

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

Pass GCE A-Level with at least Grade B in Bahasa Arab and Grade C in any one (1) other subject;

and

Obtained of at least Grade B in any one (1) of the following subjects in SPM level:

• Bahasa Arab;
• Al- Lughah Al- Arabiah AL- Mu’asirah
• Turath Bahasa Arab

and

Obtained at least band 2.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 2.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:

Obtained of at least Band 4 (Academic) (Academic) in IELTS;

or

Obtained of at least 437 points (PBT)/ 123 points (CBT)/ 41 points (IBT) in TOEFL.

• National Higher School Certificate (or an Advanced Level equivalent) with the grade 80% and above 

 OR 

• A Diploma from recognized Institutions with the least a CGPA of 3.00
• Applicant may be required to undergo an interview session for certain selection programme before being accepted by the respective faculty

English Language Requirements

• Effective from February 2019 intake, the English requirements has been updated and international students applying for the undergraduate programmes at University of Malaya must obtain:

• Band of 5.0 and above in IELTS (Academic); or
• Score of 500 (PBT), 173 (CBT) or 60 (IBT) and above in TOEFL; or
• Band of 3 and above in Malaysian University English Test (MUET); or
• Score 41 and above in Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE Academic); or
• Grade C and above in English for General Certificate of Education (A Level), University of Cambridge; or
• Grade C and above in English for General Certificate of Secondary Education (0 Level), University of Cambridge; or
• Grade C and above in Cambridge Assessment English: First (FCE)

Students must complete a total of 126 credit in order to be awarded the Bachelor of Arabic Language and Linguistics.
