Bachelor of Chinese Language and Linguistics

To be able to communicate fluently in Chinese means you are able to connect with over one fifth of the people on this planet. Mandarin Chinese is the mother tongue of over 873 million people, making it the most widely spoken first language in the world. The Bachelor of Chinese Language and Linguistics program is specifically designed to prepare students with fluency and cultural literacy especially how it functions in Chinese society. A good command of Chinese language opens the way to different important fields such as Chinese politics, economy, history or business. Language proficiency in Chinese and English can help Chinese companies to globalize and foreign companies to localize in terms of making import/export sales.

Opportunities for further Studies/learning experience include: China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States, and other European countries.

General Entry Requirements

Pass the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with a credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia subject

or
A credit (Grade C) in Bahasa Melayu/Bahasa Malaysia July papers and pass in History (SPM 2013 and above);

and
Achieve a minimum Band in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) as required in special requirements of the programme.

and
Have fulfilled all special requirements of the programme as may be prescribed by the Senate.

Special Entry Requirements

STPM

Science / Arts Stream (Current Year)

Pass STPM with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and
Obtained of at least Grade C in STPM for any two (2) subjects;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for any one (1) of the following subjects:

Bahasa Cina
Kesusasteraan Cina;

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

MATRICULATION FOUNDATION (Current Year)

Science/ Accounting/ TESL / Law Stream (Current Year)

Pass Matriculation/ Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for any one (1) of the following subjects:

Bahasa Cina
Kesusasteraan Cina;

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

DIPLOMA / EQUIVALENT

Pass STPM not within the current year with a minimum CGPA of 3.00;

and
Obtained of at least Grade C in STPM for any two (2) subjects;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for any one (1) of the following subjects:

Bahasa Cina
Kesusasteraan Cina;

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

REQUIREMENT 1

Possessed a GCE A-Level with at least two (2) Grade B and one (1) Grade C in any three (3) subjects;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for any one (1) of the following subjects:

Bahasa Cina
Kesusasteraan Cina;

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:

Obtained of at least Band 4.5 (Academic) in IELTS;

or
Obtained of at least 477 points (PBT)/ 153 points (CBT)/ 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL.

OR

REQUIREMENT 2

Possessed a recognised International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) with a minimum score of 30 points;

and
Obtained of at least Grade B in SPM for any one (1) of the following subjects:

Bahasa Cina
Kesusasteraan Cina

and
Obtained at least band 3.0 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for the exam session 1 of 2021 or band 3.0 for examination up to the year of 2020 according to the validity period on the date of application.

However, applicants who do not possess a MUET but possessed the following results may be considered for a conditional offer with the fulfilment of the MUET requirements within the duration of one (1) academic session:

Obtained of at least Band 4.5 (Academic) in IELTS;

or
Obtained of at least 477 points (PBT)/ 153 points (CBT)/ 53 points (IBT) in TOEFL.
