Skills Languages

We offer an array of English Skills and Language Programmes at Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced Levels as well as Business Courses catering to both school leavers and adults in the academic and professional sectors. These programmes are designed to suit the needs and requirements of the students who want to learn English. It ranges from using English to interact socially to pursuing academic achievements, and advancing in their career.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY PROGRAMMES

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY PROGRAMME

This course is offered in 3 Modules (Module 1, Module 2 and Module 3). Students are asked to select any module they want to follow first, but it is best to start with Module 1. Students who have completed any module and want to take the next one need to apply for it. Course certificate will be awarded for each completed module.

Assessment /Evaluation will be based on both course-work
(50 percent) and final examination (50 percent).

The main objective is to enhance proficiency in the English
language so that the course participants can communicate more
effectively and efficiently in this language for the fulfillment of
their various needs, specifically

  • For social interaction with people who use the English
    language
  • To pursue academic activities conducted in the English
    languageTo be better prepared for taking English language
    examination (IELTS) that form part of the international study
    prerequisites

BUSINESS ENGLISH COMMUNICATION

The objective is to give an overview of the Basic Introductory
English Course for working adults who wish to improve their
English proficiency.
UMCCed, dedicated to the ideals of lifelong education, offers
numerous programmes to working adults who wish to acquire
additional knowledge and skills related to their vocation for
career advancement.

Assessment Metnods
Assessment /Evaluation will be based on both course-work
(50 percent) and final examination (50 percent).

In this course, you can expect to improve your language and
writing skills in the following areas, by:

  • Reading and understanding comprehension texts skilfully.
  • Answering comprehension questions accurately.
  • Compose professional business e-mails and letters.
  • Be equipped with the necessary oral presentation skills.
  • Applying appropriate vocabulary and grammar in writing
    for academic and business purposes.

This programme comprises of a 8-
week schedule (4 hours per week);
(32 hours of teaching and learning).

MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITY ENGLISH TEST (MUET) COURSES

INTENSIVE MUET WORKSHOP

Intensive MUET Workshop is an intensive 2-day workshop to all MUET
candidates who aim to seek guidance from the experts and experiences trainers.
This course is designed and structured to provide a comprehensive overview of
MUET and offers the techniques and strategies in answering all four components
of MUET. Also, this intensive workshop concentrating on the important exam tips, interactive hands-on practices, engaging activities as well as useful test-taking strategies to ace in MUET examination.

  • Participants will learn about the four components: writing, reading,
    listening and speaking in MUET formats.
  • Participants will learn the structures and format for MUET Writing Task 1 and Writing Task 2.
  • Participants will learn reading techniques such as skimming and
    scanning relevant to MUET.
  • Participants will learn the techniques for MUET listening such as
    listening for main ideas and paraphrasing.
  • Participants will learn the techniques for MUET speaking such as to
    justify, agree, disagree etc.
  • Participants will learn the current MUET grading system.
  • Participants will familiar with MUET exam questions styles following
    from MUET past year paper analysis session
  • Component 1-Listening:
    Focuses on various oral texts including lectures, briefing, talks,
    telephone conversations, instructions, documentaries and
    advertisements.
  • Component 2 – Speaking:
    Focuses on the ability to make presentation and take part in group
    discussion on contemporary issues.
  • Component 3 – Reading:
    Focuses on comprehension of texts of various length and complexity
    and from different genres, including articles from journals and
    magazines.

Malay language for Beginners is a part of Modemn Foreign Language programme that is meant for non-native adult learners who wish to continue their learning and improve their command in Malay at proficiency level. The Malay Language Proficiency Programme is designed to train participants to become competent in the basic communication of the Malay Language.

Continuous Assessment

  • 60% (Exercises, Interactive activity and
    Tests).

 

Final Examination

  • 40% (Listening + Speaking + Reading + Writing).
